Do you ever get that dreadful feeling after waking up as if you'd rather spend the day dreaming in your magnificently fluffy bed than get up, shower, eat breakfast, and move on with the day? I get that feeling. As if dreamland is where I am truly suppose to be. As if the only thing to look forward to is my hot, steaming cup of chamomile tea that will put me right back to sleep into my blissful dreams.
Some of us are truly not happy with our lives. And that is the truth. Our days our bounded by schedules, meetings, and we feel as if we are missing on LIFE. And even if we do wake up ready and prepared to take on the world, we run into unpleasant people who want to ruin our day and are successful at their mission if we let them.
Things happen. When the sun rises, we don't know what is going to happen. We don't know if we will be on this Earth before bedtime. We have no clue. So why not live and appreciate everyday we are living, as if it is our last? ;)
Take notice of everything around you. Everything that you don't pay attention to. I took a moment last night to spend an hour outside and listen to the wind dance against the trees, the creatures sing their songs, and rain drip to the ground. I glanced at the stars. They are equivalent to doorways into another world; so beautiful and enchanting. I spent quality time with my daughters. We skipped bedtime and stayed up watching our favorite shows and eating our favorite cereal. I read stories to them and watched them fall asleep under their purple comforter, both laying next to each other and holding each others hand in complete peace. These moments are beautiful. I love them.
Today, I woke up and made my three-year old her favorite breakfast. Cereal with soymilk and yogurt (or "ogurt", as she calls it). My oldest daughter headed to school and we played her favorite video game before she left. Skateboarding.
Enjoying each moment is essential to having a beautiful day. The simplest things can improve our negative feelings about the upcoming hours ahead if we just learn to enjoy the little moments that make us smile & remind us how beautiful life truly is.
Have your Shield.
Energy Vampires are everywhere. I will write more about them in another post, but believe me, they are around. They are ready to suck that positive energy right out of you, belittle you, discourage you, bully you, harass/stalk you. These energies are out to destroy the very little thing that keeps you going--your inner peace. You need protection.
How I shield myself:
Start everyday with a spiritual practice. Prayer/Meditation/Reading. I meditate each sunrise and pray to my Creator and his Angels for protection and guidance for the day. Meditation and keep doing consistently. Whenever you come in contact with a vampire, whether it be your mother-in-law, your neighbor, your co-worker, or even the cashier at the local Starbucks, shield yourself. Imagine a white light surrounding your body. Imagine there are chains connecting you and that person, and imagine yourself breaking them; setting yourself free. If you are highly-sensitive, like myself, you absorb energies. You feel people and you connect with their thoughts. If someone is depressed, they can dump all those emotions on you, making you depressed. Shield yourself everyday.
Take Care of Yourself.
You can't have a beautiful day if you start it off with a shot of Hennessy, a skipped shower, half a pack of cigarettes, and a can of vienna sausage. Take care of that beautiful body of yours. Cleanse yourself and your body. My daily regime includes a full glass of water with freshly squeezed organic lemon, a natural body detox. Oil-Pulling is also a popular detoxing method, that only takes twenty minutes of your time, that you can spend tidying up or taking that shower. Skip the bacon and sausage omelette, and instead go for a fresh fruit salad, raw vegan oats, and a cup of herbal tea with honey. Add a daily essential vitamin to that routine, and you'll be packed with tons of energy and a you'll have a healthy start. Can't get any better than that ;)
Show someone some Love.
Whenever you have the opportunity, make it your mission to make someone's day BETTER. Whether it's buying someone a meal, getting a broken-hearted friend some flowers, or helping an elderly woman cross the street, your acts of kindness can improve your day and someone else's. When you give love, you improve the world. How great is that? Super Great! (I sound corny, I know. But the truth will set you free ♥)
Get your excersize.
Take a walk, join a gym, or just dance around your house. I don't care what you do, work that body! Invest in some weights, do your squats and lunges. Work that mid-section. Run that mile you've been saying you were going to do, but haven't done because of your endless excuses. Dust off that bike in your garage and ride around the neighborhood. Invite your friend over for some YouTube Yoga sessions. You've got so many options; keep yourself in shape.
Accomplish Something.
Whether it's writing ten pages to that book you've put on hold or signing yourself up for school, do something that will get you closer to your goals. Believe in yourself and your abilities. You haven't finished that painting? Go ahead and do it. You want to start your own business, start doing your research so you CAN make that happen. You want to give to a charity, go ahead. Nothing is stopping you but YOU!
Be Thankful.
For your food, for your car, for your home, for the Sun/the moon/and the stars. Give thanks for all you have. You can't be happy if you aren't grateful for what you already have.
I want to end this with two simple words. Love Yourself. Love yourself enough to do all the things above, and spread that beautiful Love to others. Treat yourself to something at the end of the day, even if it's just a Redbox Movie and a bowl of popcorn. You've accomplished something today, and because of that
You Rock!
Make Your Day Beautiful,
♥always
Monica
